  • This show is in the running for most confusion in re: date and location in all of Jerrydom. Here at the Jerry Site, it has been listed as 12/28/72, then to 12/20/72, and now back to 12/28. Let me try to lay this all out.

First, it was listed as 12/28, consistent with tape labels.

Second, it was moved to 12/20, with this note: "The correct date for this show is really 12/20/72. 12/28 was the day of the FM Broadcast by KTIM (San Rafael), but the actual show took place on 12/20." The source attached with the show entry in this form is Rob Eaton, presumably based on vault tapes.

Third, we have now moved it back to 12/28/72, based on strong evidence from Dave Tamarkin. Posting at db.etree.org, Tamarkin says this: "I've said this a hundred times before. I can't for the life of me figure out the confusion on this date. It was 2 nights at the Lion's Share on 12/27 & 28/72. I was there, met the whole band and took photos ... I was joined at this show by my brother Jeff, journalist and author of the book Got a Revolution. Also there was well known bay area photographer Ed Perlstein. ... I remember the night well. Roger Troy and his friend on guitar sat in during the 2nd set along with a trumpet player who just walked up out of the crowd. I didn't mistake this for the Keystone as I was never there."

Finally, while we use Tamarkin's recollections to list the venue as Lion's Share, we note that "Scenedrome" (i.e., calendar) listing in the Berkeley Barb shows Dr. Hoak and the Medicine Show at Lion's Share on this date. We assume that the listing is in error or in any case ended up not materializing.

  • 90 min FM - Usually mislabeled 12-28-1972, refering to the date of the original FM Broadcast, not the actual show date. Contains It's Too Late through Georgia On My Mind from Set 1 and Baby What You Want Me To Do to the end of the show from Set 2.
166 min FM - FM broadcast on WBAI-New York in April 1998 from the SBD copy of this show listed below.
